Steyning

Steyning is surrounded by the South Downs, 6 miles from Shoreham-by-Sea. The railway line that used to connect Steyning with Brighton and Horsham and it's onward link to London was closed in 1964 but much nostalgia for the days of the railway remain. What used to be small market town is still a very busy community which can be seen every day in the bustling high street with its shops, pubs, tea rooms and services. A stroll around Steyning reveals the history surrounding this charming village. Villagers are justifiably proud of the Norman Church, the historic Old Grammar School dating back to 1614 and the Saxon House all of which attract many visitors.

The community benefits from a good junior school and Steyning Grammar School, a large comprehensive school which attracts pupils from a wide surrounding area. A large leisure centre and swimming pool are the centre for many sporting clubs which are only part of the wide choice of clubs and societies for residents.
