The RAME PENINSULA
occupies the most South Easterly point of Cornwall and has a fascinating
history. In today's world it continues to have prospering communities
and vibrant village life.
MILLBROOK with a present population of over 2000 lies at the head of "Millbrook Creek" and has provided a variety of working opportunities in the past from brickworks to tanneries and fishing to a paper mill and steamships. Today it remains a busy village with its shops and services providing a wide range of everyday needs. The twin villages of KINGSAND and CAWSAND are steeped in history and noted in previous times for their fishing and smuggling exploits respectively. The colour washed houses crowd around the beaches and stretch haphazardly up the hillsides. Many houses are now second homes or holiday lets which add a much needed boost in the summer season to the local economy. CREMYLL's existence is due almost entirely to the fact that it has provided a ferry service to Plymouth dating back to before the 12th century. The little hamlet is surrounded by the Mount Edgcumbe estate and parkland creating an oasis of peace and beauty across the water from bustling Plymouth. The RAME PENINSULA Directory will be published annually in November.
The publication of the Directory is made entirely possible by local trades and services that advertise in the Directory. A complete listing of these services can be found on the trade listings page on this web site. |
